LOCAL TEEN GIRLS LEARN HOW TO BECOME U.S. PRESIDENT
Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore and The White House Projectpartner to encourage political leadership of Grand Rapids area girls

In this historic era of women’s political leadership, Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore and The White House Project are encouraging political leadership and civic participation among local high school teens.  At the Saturday, March 7, 2009 Ms. President Event, Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors, as well as other 9th-12th grade girls, will learn what it takes to run for President of the United States–or any elected office.

The five-hour training aims to educate teens about the history of women’s leadership, build the skills needed to run for elected office, and explore the campaign trail leading to the White House.  Participants will hear from local women leaders about their own paths, and will leave the training with set career goals and a campaign plan – as well as a Ms. President Girl Scout patch.  The $4.00 registration fee includes the patch, training supplies and snacks.
