Add women, CHANGE everything.

Press Release

Senator Hillary Clinton's announcement Saturday to step into the presidential race was a statement heard around the world

New York, NY (January 20, 2007): Marie Wilson, President of The White House Project and leading women’s advocate, thinks that Senator Clinton’s historic bid to become the first woman to win the U.S. presidency builds on the global momentum of women's leadership.

“Over the past year, Germany, Chile, Liberia, and Jamaica elected their first female heads-of-state and France is poised to the do the same.   Here at home, American's acceptance of a female commander in chief is at an all-time high. Eighty percent of Americans are ready for a female president and a majority believe a woman can lead on the complex issues of national security and the economy.

“As Clinton begins her conversation with America this week, she enters the race at a time when the country is more prepared for female leadership than at any point in its history."

Wilson is available for comment today on the effect Senator Clinton’s candidacy will have on women and on the 2008 presidential race

Wilson is founder and President of The White House Project, co-creator of Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work ® Day and author of Closing the Leadership Gap: Why Women Can and Must Help Run the World (Viking 2004).  Wilson has been profiled in The New York Times “Public Lives” column, has appeared on The Today Show, CNN, National Public Radio and other national programs and is quoted widely for her expertise.
