Michigan Cabinet

What is The White House Project's Michigan Cabinet?

With more than 50 Founding Members, the Michigan Cabinet brings together prominent philanthropists, activists, professionals, elected leaders and Michigan Go Run alumnae to increase the number of women running for elected office in Michigan.  As a nonpartisan nonprofit organization, The White House Project is changing the face of government by inspiring, informing and equipping a critical mass of women to enter Michigan’s political pipeline.

Michigan Cabinet Members agree to give or raise $1000 each year to sponsor women attending The White House Project’s trainings around our state, including Michigan Go Run, Debate Boot Camp and Go Lead trainings.  Membership in the Michigan Cabinet is renewed on an annual basis.

As an ambassador of The White House Project, each Michigan Cabinet member provides and receives mentoring from a distinguished and diverse group of business, community and political leaders around the state.  Michigan Cabinet members are also committed to promoting The White House Project’s training opportunities to their networks.  Finally, furthering our mission to advance every woman’s leadership, Michigan Cabinet members receive special invitations to networking and learning opportunities with The White House Project throughout each year.

Together, the White House Project and the Michigan Cabinet are:

  • Increasing the visibility and power of women leaders in Michigan;
  • Raising funds for The White House Project by expanding our base of support;
  • Identifying and cultivating future donors and training participants;
  • Experiencing more ease and success as a group than any one person would experience alone;
  • Striving to grow the Michigan Cabinet to 100 members in 2010;
  • Leveraging the Michigan Cabinet’s diverse, nonpartisan, statewide support to secure grants from public and private foundation across Michigan; and
  • Building a long-term pipeline of political leadership, retaining and advancing our state’s greatest natural resource: our women leaders.
